Undoubtedly, those afflicted by a disease that sounds just like a Walt Disney cartoon movie from the 1940's are bound to generate less empathy than sufferers of COPD or the Rockin' Pneumonia or the Boogie-Woogie Flu. However, your very evocative--and even colorful--explanation of the condition will stay with me far longer than its name, as I am a victim of a far more pervasive malady: Age, and the ravages of aging memory. If I didn't learn it twenty years ago it's gone in a couple of days. I'll remember the stupid mouse in the movie from eighty years ago, but the more relevant 'aphantasia' will be in one deaf ear and out the other shortly after this text box is closed.

Nevertheless, you handled your side of the transaction quite well. It's no discredit to you that readers like me have a memory like swiss cheese. God willing, you'll still be cranking them out on Substack by the time you're my age, and you won't even remember that you have that visualization handicap any more. Aphantastic Amnesia might not be so bad, considering the alternatives.

Thank you for the thoughtful, and at least temporarily enlightening, article.
