(1) I couldn’t help thinking of Mythic Quest while reading this for a number of reasons! (2) RPGs are to me the evolution of the Choose-Your-Own-Adventure stories, though I just got a new book of that style that has some online interactive features as well (looking forward to checking it out). (3) A book I edited was published with a couple of lingering mistakes that have not been fixed and I inwardly cringe because I fear that anyone who sees them won’t want to work with me.
I need to look into Mythic Quest, I have seen you mention it a few times. I also got a tip on some interactive paranormal romance novels for adults that I need to look into. It takes so many people to produce an "error-free" book even to a Six Sigma level of quality -- 99.99966% or 3.4 errors per million -- that even most trad publishers do not expect that level of perfection. I hope no one would look at a book with "a couple" of mistakes and think "I wouldn't want to work with this editor" but rather "this editor did a really excellent job."
Thanks. I hope so too. There might be more errors but I stopped looking through it. The new Choose-Your-Own Adventure book I got for James is called Shadow Chaser. Will let you know when we read it.
